Hampton Roads Pride mission is to unite the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQIAP+) and allied communities in support of inclusion, dignity and equality of all people.

As part of our mission to unite, we sometimes have to make the hard call to pause or postpone programming for the safety of our community.

Tonight, in collaboration with the City of Virginia Beach, City of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation, and Mettle Events, we have made the decision to postpone the 2023 Run the Rainbow 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, The scheduled Packet Pickup at Three Notch’d Brewery, and the Run the Rainbow Post-Race Party at Three Notch’d Brewery.

Due to the amount of rain we are anticipating on Friday and Saturday, the course is expected to flood with minimal drainage by Sunday morning. We will work with City leaders and Mettle Events to identify a makeup date. As soon as we have one, we will share the date with you. Please monitor social media, email, and the race website for updates.

Stay dry and safe this weekend, and we will share the makeup date when we have it!

Countdown to Run the Rainbow 🌈 Just a few days left! 💪 Lace up your sneakers, hydrate, and get ready to conquer the 5k & 1-mile fun run this Sunday. Remember, slow and steady wins the race! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ #RunTheRainbow2023 #PrepLikeAPro

Here are some tips to consider in preparation for the race:

👟 Proper Nutrition: Eat a balanced diet with a mix of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. Fuel your body with nutritious foods to support your training.

👟 Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is crucial. Drink enough water throughout the day, and especially before and after your workouts.

👟 Test Your Gear: Ensure you have comfortable and appropriate running shoes, moisture-wicking clothing, and any other gear you'll need for the race.

👟 Plan Your Race Day: Familiarize yourself with the race location, parking, and any logistical details. Prepare your race kit, including your bib number and any necessary supplies.

👟 Get a Good Night's Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep the night before the race to ensure you're well-rested and ready to perform at your best.

👟 Warm-Up and Stretch: On race day, warm up with light jogging or brisk walking, followed by dynamic stretches to prepare your muscles for the race.

👟 Enjoy the Experience: Remember to have fun! Focus on enjoying the event and celebrating your achievement.
